WHITEHOUSE STATION, NJ — You may not be thinking “culinary arts” when it comes to convenience but QuickChek does, and that’s why their freshly prepared food and beverages wins awards — and customers.
The Whitehouse Station, NJ-based fresh convenience market chain, which has been opening newly designed stores with more than half of each new store’s space dedicated to fresh foodservice, is furthering this commitment with the hiring of chef Ted Kwiecien as Culinary Specialist.
Kwiecien possesses more than 25 years of experience in restaurant management including two retail brands known for their customer focus: Nordstrom, where he held management positions in Short Hills, the Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus and Freehold; and Nieman Marcus, where he was a manager and chef in Short Hills.
The Piscataway resident holds degrees in culinary arts and food service management from Johnson & Wales University, one of the premier culinary schools in the world, and will bring the best of both worlds to your neighborhood QuickChek.
“Today’s consumer, especially young professionals, families and health-conscious people, want fresh food to go,” said QuickChek CEO Dean Durling. “In meeting their needs, we have become a foodservice destination. Ted possesses a proven background as a chef and as a restaurateur with consumer-focused brands that fit with our mission of providing restaurant-quality food and beverages for busy people on-the-go.”

Now Serving Fresh Brewed Iced Coffee
The hottest trend in beverages is QuickChek’s new fresh brewed iced coffee, which is being introduced in its 158 stores throughout New Jersey, the Hudson Valley and Long Island on April 8.
Brewed to the same standards as its renowned fresh brewed hot coffee, the process is different but the results will still allow consumers to customize a flavorful cup of coffee that can be enjoyed any time of day or night. QuickChek’s new fresh brewed iced coffee will be available in regular, decaf, or limited-time-only flavors that shine through with nuances of chocolate and fruit, such as apple and summer berries. Consumers can personalize their iced coffee with a variety of sweeteners and flavor shots including hazelnut, French vanilla, caramel and pure cane sugar.
The key to enjoying fresh brewed iced coffee according to Kwiecien is the right amount of ice.
“The first step is filling a cup about three-quarters of the way with ice. Then prepare it just like you would hot coffee. Add as much milk, sugar or sweetener as you normally would if you don’t like it black. Then pour in the coffee.”
