WHITEHOUSE STATION, NJ — QuickChek Corporation, a leader in food services committed to the communities it serves, is celebrating Veterans Day with the announcement it has raised $109,000 through two recent fundraisers to benefit local military veterans and military families.
The Whitehouse Station, NJ-based fresh convenience market chain raised $45,000 through its annual golf outing to assist military veterans in their transition into new, post-military careers.
QuickChek team members from its headquarters support center, store personnel, and dozens of company vendors, participated in the September 17, 2020 event at Beaver Brook Country Club in Annandale, NJ.
QuickChek Corporate Loss Prevention Manager Lou Linares, Community Involvement Coordinator Heather Stillman, District Leader Drew Allen and Farmingdale Store Leader Leonard Cottrell, who is a United States Army veteran, presented Mike Ferraro and Toni Gianatiempo from Bridging The Gap for Veterans, with the proceeds from the golf donation at the fresh convenience market chain’s Farmingdale, NJ store.
Based in Manasquan, NJ, Bridging The Gap for Veterans is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose goal is to prepare and provide the entire military community and family members with career transition coaching and access to veteran-friendly corporations to help secure career interviews for veterans following their service to our nation.
QuickChek has hired a half-dozen veterans through Bridging The Gap for Veterans in the two years they have been working together.
“We’re proud to continue to honor our veterans and we wish to also thank the owners, management team and staff at Beaver Brook Country Club for stepping in to accommodate the event during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Linares, noting the crisis forced the company to move its annual fundraiser from June to September and seek another venue on short notice.
The family-owned fresh convenience chain also just concluded its second event, an in-store fundraiser with the Semper Fi & America’s Fund, in which it raised $64,000 to help provide immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to combat wounded, critically ill and catastrophically injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.
Customers were invited to purchase paper military boots for $1 at the company’s 160 fresh convenience market store locations in the Metropolitan area, “round up” their purchases or donate coins at checkout counters during a six-week long promotion.
QuickChek has now raised more than $700,000 in the past six years in support of local military veterans and their families.
“We are very pleased to honor and continue our support of our Service members and their families who give so much of themselves,” said QuickChek CEO Dean Durling. “We are also very proud of the continued support we receive from our customers who jointly share our desire to recognize and aid members of our local communities in their time of need.”
