WHITEHOUSE STATION, NJ — Amanda Shymanski, QuickChek Corporation’s Senior Category Manager, has been named one of the “Future Leaders in Convenience” by Convenience Store News magazine.
Now in its third year, the award recognizes young c-store retail executives under the age of 35 who are already demonstrating they possess the traits of great leaders and are poised to be at the forefront of the $648 billion c-store industry’s future. This year’s 20 honorees range from a company president to chief financial officer to category managers, marketing and human resource experts.
Shymanski is responsible for managing the fresh convenience chain’s award-winning Sandwich category and overseeing the Salad, Soup, and Grab & Go categories for QuickChek’s 160 retail store locations throughout New Jersey, New York’s Hudson Valley and Long Island.
The Hunterdon County resident possesses 12 years of food service experience with QuickChek with increasing responsibilities for food and beverage selection, food packaging, pricing strategies, sourcing ingredients, and interacting with the family-owned company’s vendors and suppliers.
She launched QuickChek’s “always fresh, never frozen” program and was promoted into her current role in 2018.
“I’m honored and humbled to be named to this list. QuickChek and the c-store industry have presented me with many great opportunities that have enabled me to grow both professionally and personally,” said Shymanski. “I’m very proud of the quality of the food we have to offer and that we can be creative with both our menu and how we deliver it to the consumer as people’s dining habits and shopping habits continue to change.”
The Whitehouse Station, NJ-based chain is a recognized leader in reinventing the fresh convenience food service channel in the Metropolitan area and nationally.
QuickChek’s innovations allow consumers to choose their convenience: shopping in-store; placing mobile orders and enjoying savings through the QuickChek Rewards mobile app; utilizing Curbside Pickup; and delivery with DoorDash.
Shymanski notes that customers are excited to come in and enjoy new seasonal offerings such as this fall’s Chicken sandwiches with Cranberry Relish; Pumpkin Spice coffees and smoothies; expansions of their favorite sub sandwiches; and discovering new and different menu items typically not found in c-stores including healthy dining options, all-natural selections, and fresh fruit.
As a result, QuickChek has received numerous industry awards including 2019 Prepared Foodservice Innovator of the Year, 2016 Foodservice Innovator of the Year, and twice has been named the industry’s Hot Beverage Innovator Gold Medal Winner.
QuickChek’s famed fresh brewed coffee has also been named the best in America in a national consumer survey.
Shymanski also plays an active role in the company’s support of its local communities. For the past four years, she has been a guest judge at the New Jersey Firefighters Benevolent Association cook-off benefiting the RWJ Barnabas Burn Unit. She has also been a longtime participant of QuickChek’s bicycle riding team supporting juvenile diabetes.
Shymanski will receive her award prior to the CSNews’ Hall of Fame dinner in Savannah, GA on November 4, 2020.
